TV Shows We're Most Excited For in 2022

There are several television shows that are coming in 2022 that are sure to capture the attention of viewers across the country. From reboots to miniseries and spinoffs, there’s something for all genres to enjoy. Several new shows are coming to HBO Max, Netflix, Dish TV, and other popular streaming services, such as Hulu and Disney+. Although there were hints that 2021 would bring anticipated shows, many got pushed back to 2022 because of issues stemming from the pandemic.

“The Lord of the Rings”
This Amazon Video series is a fantasy that’s based on the book series of the same name. It’s set during the 3440s and takes viewers through the Second Age. Many of the characters in the series are familiar as they are mostly from the book.

“The Last of Us”
This is an HBO series that’s in the horror genre. It’s based on the video game that came out in 2013 and is set about 20 years after civilization has ended. Joel is a survivor who is hired to try to smuggle a teenager out of a quarantine zone.

“House of the Dragon”
Another fantasy series, the show can be seen on HBO. This is a prequel to “Game of Thrones” and follows House Targaryen over the course of the 300 years that lead up to what happens in “Game of Thrones.”

“The Witcher: Blood Origin”
The movie can be seen on Netflix and is set in a world that’s considered elven. You’ll be able to learn a bit of history about The Witcher and how men, monsters, and elves joined together.

“Peacemaker”
Seen on HBO Max, the series is a comedy about a superhero that’s based on a comic. The title character is dedicated to trying to create peace in the world at any costs.

“Willow”
This is another series that’s based on a movie of the same name that can be seen on Disney+ and Dish TV. The series takes place years after the events of the movie and looks at the life of a farmer who tries to protect a baby from a queen.

“Bel-Air”
Perhaps one of the most anticipated reboots, the series is a darker version of “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” It deals with topcis that are a bit more mature and that take a step toward some of the modern issues that take place among teens and young adults.

“Andor”

This Disney+ series features events that occur before those that are in “Star Wars.” Cassian Andor is the main character who viewers will see. A rebel spy, Andor strives to make it through the years of the Rebellion.

“The Boondocks”

Viewers will be able to see the Freeman family in this animated comedy on HBO Max. The black family lives in a white neighborhood and struggles with the community government while still making friends.

“Obi-Wan Kenobi”
This is a fantasy show based on “Star Wars.” It’s set about 10 years after the events of the movie and offers insights about Obi-Wan Kenobi and his personal life while he is involved with Luke Skywalker.

“She-Hulk”
Similar to the comic series “The Incredible Hulk,” viewers will see the life of attorney Jennifer Walters as she handles cases in the courtroom before she transforms into a female version of her cousin with the same green skin and strength.

“Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai”
Set in the 1920s, the HBO Max series reveals how Sam came across Gizmo and why the Mogwai is so special. The series is loosely based on the film.
