Eco-Friendly Lighting Options to Lower Your Energy Bill

If you want to lower your energy bill this year, you have many options to do so. As the whole world recognizes the importance of our carbon footprint, new products and solutions exist to help. While some people install solar panels, others introduce so-called ’smart’ appliances and other solutions. Today, however, you’re going to learn how to lower your energy bill and help the environment through your choice of lighting.

Two Types of Energy Efficient Lighting

These days, two types of energy-efficient lighting have developed, and they are as follows:

  • Light-emitting diodes (LEDs)
  • Compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs)

When searching through the market, you’re more likely to find LEDs since this is the most common option today. As well as working as spotlights, you can also use LED lighting as a dimmable option. Control the lighting in your home and create an atmosphere to suit the mood. After a long day of work, you can set LED lighting to provide a gentle ambiance rather than a harsh light. Generally speaking, LED bulbs are the most efficient lighting options you will find. This being said, CFL bulbs were the first energy-efficient product to enter the market. When customers started to show an interest in energy efficiency – saving money while also helping the planet – these products soon entered the market. While LED bulbs are the best option, CFL bulbs still use up to 80% less electricity than traditional bulbs. As a result, they tend to last up to ten times longer. If you’re tired of buying replacement bulbs, CFL bulbs are a strong option.

How Do They Work?

For a while, CFLs had the market, and consumers appreciated the reduction in energy consumption. Compared to traditional bulbs, CFLs rely on a glass tube containing gas. As this tube is charged with electricity, it will eventually glow and provide lighting. These days, it’s fair to say that LED lighting options have largely replaced CFL bulbs because they are so flexible. One of the biggest benefits of LED lights is that they turn on at full brightness instantly; something that doesn’t happen with CFL bulbs. With electricity charging the glass tube in CFL bulbs, there’s often a warm-up period. According to experts, it first turns on with about 80% brightness before then reaching full brightness after around one minute. On the other hand, you don’t need to worry about this warm-up time with LED lights. As an electrical current travels through a microchip, this lights tiny sources that we know as LEDs. These days, we can use LED lights inside, outside, and wherever else we need them. CFLs are a step in the right direction, and you will save electricity compared to traditional options. This being said, the market is very much moving in the direction of the LED light in 2022. They require less electricity than both traditional products and CFL bulbs. Also, they have a longer life. If you want an eco-friendly option to lower your energy bill, choose a reliable provider like Lights 4 Less. You’ll find lots of LED and CFL bulbs to make your home more efficient – by choosing one of these products, you use less electricity and won’t need a replacement quite so soon. Therefore, you lower your carbon footprint and help the planet. As well as making this change yourself, why not encourage others to do the same? During this post-pandemic difficult time, you can reduce your bills and spend the money on more important areas (like spending time with family!).
