As a complete novice to the internet world, I felt rather vulnerable when approaching the subject of creating a website for my new candle-making business. You hear all sorts of horror stories about wasted money and sites that don’t work unless you plough piles of cash into them on a regular basis. However, that’s only what I thought until I came across Shopify.
Having read their marketing, it seemed that their website builder was designed to cater for internet morons like me. I was still skeptical going into it, but I have to say I was quite impressed and pleasantly surprised by how simple and intuitive everything was.
Building Was Simple With Drag & Drop
Within a few minutes of signing up with Shopify, I was presented with what can accurately be called a drag-and-drop website builder. Requiring absolutely no knowledge of coding languages like CSS or HTML, it was genuinely easy to play around with the design and create a look I was happy with.
It was so simple that it required no explanation. Also, as I went on, I found a bunch of other positive aspects to the platform that assured me I’d made the right decision. They included:
- No need to pay for web hosting or domain (as it’s included with the price)
- External payment systems are a cinch to attach to your site
- Managing my products was very easy
- They’re automatically optimized for speed
Having researched the subject fully before I started to create my first website, I already knew that adding all of this functionality was likely to cost me a bomb. However, I was delighted when I realized that all of these aspects were taken care of as part of the package.
I’ll Be Talking to a Shopify Expert Soon
I’m coming to the end of my expertise now that I’m looking at customizing my site, but I’m so pleased that I was able to get this far on my own. The functionality I intend to add to my site in the coming year will require that I reach out to experts in this field, but I’m happy to do that.
I’m more than okay with spending money where needed to add more uniqueness to our website branding. The money I saved at the outset means I can afford it.
Yes, You CAN Create a Shopify Store As a Beginner!
If I’ve proven anything to myself during this process, it’s that anyone….and I mean ANYONE can create a Shopify store with ease. It will take you time but not a lot of money to get the foundation of your website created and looking great.
Once you’ve hit your knowledge ceiling and you become less confident about what you’re doing, I’d recommend having a chat with a Shopify expert in your local area. They’ll know how to take you to the next level and add any features that you’re struggling to implement.
All in all, I don’t think I would have had such a good experience with another platform, and the reviews I’ve seen do nothing but praise the platform. As such, it’s one you should consider.
