Mouthwash – Mouthwash helps in reducing the acidity of the mouth while reaching all corners of your mouth. There are medicated mouthwashes available for those who substitute brushing with mouthwash (senior adults or children). The added flavors help with bad breath as well. 

Limiting foods with high sugar or acid content – Sugar, when consumed, turns into acid as a part of the digestive process. The acid is what causes the enamel of the teeth to erode and results in cavities. Although it is impossible to avoid sugar, it is possible to be mindful of the food you consume. Sugar-sweetened beverages are a common cause of cavities, especially amongst children. Highly acidic foods like coffee and tea can also be harmful to the health of your teeth.

Make an appointment with your dentist – Most people do not go to see the dentist unless there is an issue leading to undiagnosed long-term damage. This can be avoided by ensuring timely check-ups. It is always good to get your teeth checked and cleaned. It helps in maintaining oral hygiene in the long run. 

Drinking water – Water is the first preventative solution to many health problems. In this case, water is helpful as it ensures no acidic residue is left on your teeth which can damage the enamel. Water also helps in maintaining the mouth’s pH balance. Hence, it is recommended to drink water after you eat.
