Have you ever felt frustrated with your career? You know, sitting at a desk for hours upon end in the hopes that your hard work will lead to a better position. And when the opportunity comes along, you’re passed over for someone who has more experience or education than you do. Here is how furthering your education can help you get promoted.
1. Get a graduate certificate
People want to hire someone who demonstrates ambition. Often, the best way to do that is by getting additional education in your field. For example, if you majored in management when you first received your bachelor’s degree but would like to move up into a senior executive position at one of your company’s locations, maybe it’s time to get a graduate certificate of change management online, which is very convenient. And while you’re at it, earn another graduate certificate in e-learning systems—when developing new management training programs comes up again next year, you’ll be ready for that, too.
2. Do the Research
It’s best to start out by doing some research on all the careers that you may be interested in. Check out different websites and occupations to make sure this is really the route you want to take. Do you think that you’re more of a science person? If so, you might want to consider being a doctor. Maybe your strengths lie more in business. Then maybe being an investor or CEO is the best route for you.
Additionally, look into what education is required to reach those types of careers. Is it something that can be attained by attending college? Or do you need to get your Ph.D.? 3. Go and network!

4. Be proactive

If you’re unhappy, let them know that you think there’s something out there that would be better suited for you; talk about where your interests lie and how they align with the company’s vision statement. Don’t forget to bring up what additional education would do for you, both personally and professionally!
5. Keep at it! Never give up the fight!
The fact of life is that not everyone gets promoted when they deserve it or want it. But don’t let this discourage you from continuing on with your plans! Remember, there is a path for each one of us, and sometimes we just need to get back up and keep trudging ahead. Don’t let people tell you: “It’s not your turn,” or “You’re too young.” You deserve that promotion; it may just be a matter of time before everyone else sees that!

Sometimes the biggest mistake people make is taking a promotion too soon without fully thinking about whether they are ready for it. Taking on additional responsibility may seem like the perfect idea at the time, but if you are constantly stressed out, unhappy, or unable to do everything that’s required of you well…then maybe this job isn’t for you. Don’t let someone else’s dreams become your nightmares! So take some time to yourself before accepting any kind of promotion; there is no point in getting ahead if it doesn’t feel right!

Education shows that you are capable of learning what has been taught to you and applying it. It also shows your problem-solving skills, adaptability, leadership capabilities, etc… Many people look over these important factors when looking for the perfect candidate for the job they have open.
Education can help with promotions by giving you more qualifications that are needed for higher-level positions! For example: if someone were applying for a marketing manager position, but had no education about marketing whatsoever, would they really be given an opportunity? Of course not! What they need is someone who has experience AND education about the field they are in.
What can I do if I’m unhappy?
If you’re unhappy, there is always something you can do!
First, talk with your boss. Be honest and open about how you think things are not working out now that you’ve taken on additional responsibilities. Let them know that taking on this promotion wasn’t what you thought it would be like, or that the extra workload isn’t worth the pay increase. Come up with solutions together; maybe they can help train someone else to take over some of your work? Maybe they will consider giving you more flexible hours so that you don’t feel overwhelmed.
It’s always a good idea to keep going back to school even if you have a well-paying job. It shows that you are still dedicated and ambitious to continue growing as a professional and as a person! This can benefit you in many ways, so always strive for the best.
