What is the difference between blog and vlog?

Why You Need Local SEO in New York for Your Business

If you want to tap into the earning potential of the internet then you have to choose between a blog and a vlog. Both revolve around content but the way you can approach the audience, the earning potential, as well as the long-term success rates, are different.

There is a general difference between blogs and vlogs and it is the delivery of the content. Blogs deliver the content with the help of the written word whereas in terms of the vlogs you can simply communicate it all out in a video. Both have different engagement rates and that is why different success rates when it comes to consistent revenue streams. To have a clear cut idea of how both operate you first have to know the bordering differences between the two;

What is a blog?

A blog is the delivery of the content via the written word, it is nothing more than a simple log of things that are penned by the blogger and shared with a concerned audience. The success rate of blogging is a bit higher than other forms of internet endeavors and part of the reason is how convenient it is to set up a blog and just start writing.

All you need is a domain name, a hosting provider, and a preferred niche that you would like to write/educate about. If you can keep consistent with the exercise of generating unique content that is up to the taste of your audience then voila you have got yourself a steady stream of revenue and a bright future blogging.

What is a vlog?

A vlog, on the other hand, uses a bit different delivery medium for the information that it has i.e. via video communication. It is the same as a blog in terms of the content that will be discussed at least but it offers a more direct engagement to the users and thus a more vivid exposure to the end audience.

There are a lot of technicalities involved in generating a good piece of vlog and it is quite restricting in terms of execution of the ideas, unlike a blog in which you simply write whatever you want to communicate and post it. But in a vlog, you need good equipment for the shooting of the video, great content, to begin with, excellent editing skills, and finally a strong audience to communicate your vlog to. But as compared to a blog it is fairly time-consuming and filled with ordeals to overcome.

 Which one is more tempting in terms of money?

When it comes to generating money both vlogs and blogs are a tempting choice because both have the potential to generate a steady stream of income that can go exclusive and continue to develop as your readers or subscribers do. Choosing the right topic that just clicks with your audience and putting out impressive and unique content is the key here, if you are not willing to put in the effort then you are not going to earn anything at all, this is how it goes for both a blog and a vlog.

But in terms of engagement, the video content is far more engaging and has the potential to cater to more views and subscribers whereas for a blog you have to let your voice be known among a stellar community of active readers. It can be difficult if not many people are into the niche that you have selected but at the end of the day, it is better to choose something unique, write good and then develop an audience around it.  You can check this post on on how to create a blog.
